Temple Robert Cummins, son of Joe and Cheryl, brother of Matt and Mike, husband of Barrett and soon-to-be father of Temp Junior, likes to ride powder. If you haven’t heard, all the Cummins rip. The entire family rides, and the Cummins’s shop, Northwest Snowboards, has been around since the beginning of it all. Joe and Cheryl have schlepped their kids around the Northwest Series contests and to local mountains since Temp was eight. Cheryl’s cooking gets an honorable mention for the love she packs into it. Matt was a pro for ages and Mike is a classic skate/surf dude. Did I mention that Temple’s beautiful wife is none other than Barrett Christy, a hard-charging rider herself? Temple won’t be found at the X Games or headed to the East Coast to hit handrails; he will be where the snow and terrain are good. Even as the snowboarding industry changed and continues to change, his love to ride has remained as solid as ever. So kick it and read about a real Northwest rider.
(This interview took place in Baja at one of our favorite surf spots, whose name we won’t mention. I will mention that we drank a lot of beer, surfed good waves, won the team horseshoe tourney, and can now build one hell of an agave fire. Incidentally, I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to milk words out of Temp.)
