At 5,100 feet above sea level and with over 12,000 year-round residents, Davos is known as the “highest city in Europe.” There are a few villages in the Alps with higher elevations, but none boast hospitals, medical research centers, international asthma clinics, private high schools, a pro hockey arena, seven ski areas and more smoke-filled bars than Casablanca. You can eat fondue in a rustic mountain restaurant, check out a museum or art gallery, and see a live punk show—all in the same night.…
