At 5,100 feet above sea level and with over 12,000 year-round residents, Davos is known as the highest city in Europe. There are a few villages in the Alps with higher elevations, but none boast hospitals, medical research centers, international asthma clinics, private high schools, a pro hockey arena, seven ski areas and more smoke-filled bars than Casablanca. You can eat fondue in a rustic mountain restaurant, check out a museum or art gallery, and see a live punk showall in the same night.
